Lunar New year 農曆新年

The Lunar New Year, as the name suggests, is a festival that celebrates the beginning of the lunar new year based on the traditional lunar calendar. Often celebrated in many countries in Asia, it is also known as the Spring Festival, and lasts 15 days. 

This particular new year is often associated with a variety of myths and customs. Customs and traditions of this holiday vary throughout different regions of the world. In China, families often get together for an annual reunion dinner. 

A popular custom (in which most children participate in enthusiastically) is when married adults provide the younger, unwed generation with red-envelopes with money inside. 

The Lunar New Year's main focus is to unite the family and to usher prosperity and good luck to the household. 

This event is for everyone in the community! Anyone can come and participate in the festivities. Many vendors and sponsors come to partake in this joyous holiday. Some of the activities are highlighted in our flyers:

- Performances (Dancing, Kung Fu, Lion dances) 

- Raffles (every year it's different!)
